BASELINE
Can you provide us with one random fact about yourself?
I can't eat bananas.
What was the first Arma game you played?
Arma 2 Free, when that was still a thing.
What is your current Arma 3 playtime?
6315 amazing and equally frustrating hours.
What is your favourite game of all time?
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater without a doubt. Arma 3 is a close second though.
What is your favourite movie of all time?
The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King. For me it's a gratifying end to the trilogy, even if they do miss a lot of the details from the books.
Do you eat pineapple on pizza?
Pineapple goes on gammon, with eggs and chips. Keep that nasty pineapple on pizza in the trash away from me.
Can you show us your PC setup?
Yes, just ignore all the wires hanging out the back ;) I'm "fixing" something.
5 QUESTIONS
1. How and why did you get into Arma?
Honestly, I don't quite know. I think it was a video by Dslyecxi that started it all. I do remember watching it and being gobsmacked that combined arms could be done like that in-game, so I saved up for a low-end PC and got Arma 2 Free, then eventually Arma 2 and all the DLC. Absolutely HOOKED ever since.
2. How do you play or engage with Arma 3 nowadays?
More often than not I'm putting things together behind the scenes for my group SPARTAC, or making screenshots from time to time when the urge/inspiration takes me.
3. Can you tell us about your most remarkable Arma 3 moment? (most funny, memorable, biggest achievement, etc)
For me it's when I got mentioned in a SITREP for the first time because of one of my pictures – Miller playing baseball with a "unique" bat choice. Ever since that it's been an onwards and upwards spiral to improve and get more involved with the community, even if it's just a little bit.
4. What is your favorite piece of Arma 3 user-created content (mod, addon, scenario, game mode, tool) and why?
Such a tough question because there are so many talented people out there who do awesome things, so I'll try to pick one from each Mod – I would say ACE, it makes the game so much more immersive than it already is and I love it. I'll skip the addon since it's the same thing. POLPOX artwork supporter is also one of my favorite mods if not my favorite. Scenario – Pilgrimage or Overthrow are both personal favourites of mine; both are really well done and easy to just pick up and play.
Game Mode – Not particularly big on PvP so anything PvE or COOP is good in my book.
Tool – Eden editor, no question about it. Being able to see what you're doing rather than guesstimating and hoping is AMAZING and sometimes terrifying.
5. Can you share your #1 pro-tip for any Arma 3 player?
Be patient, don't quit and just ask questions (don't ask to ask), the more time and effort you put into the game the more you'll get out of it. The rewards do outweigh the effort.
BONUS: Would you rather live in virtual reality where you are all powerful or live in the real world and be able to go anywhere but not be able to interact with anyone or anything?
I’ll go with the Virtual World all-powerful option, honestly sounds just like using Zeus to mess with people in ops, and who doesn’t want to to do that.
CLOSING
To finish the interview, do you have anything you'd like to share with the Arma community?
Just that the Arma community I think is unique in that it's incredibly helpful and welcoming overall, and that it is Bohemia's greatest asset. You're all incredible people, never change.
