Having recently celebrated their 11th anniversary, Gold Squadron Realism Unit is a group that has always found themselves on the cutting edge of development and authenticity. Established in 2015 and still going strong under its original leadership to this day, Gold Squadron Realism Unit prides itself on delivering a unique experience informed by the professional expertise of a diverse multidisciplinary team.
Focused on maintaining a cohesive, tight-knit, highly immersive, and distinctly personalized experience for their members, Gold Squadron combines the real-world military background of some of its veteran members with a talented and proficient mod team to provide a truly unique unit culture. The group is committed to developing meaningful, long-lasting relationships between its members, with several who are unable to play regularly but who remain actively involved in supporting roles and in the community because of the strong bonds formed within the group.
The group employs structures and operations designed to resemble their namesakes within the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, and Air Force Special Operations Command. Gold Squadron maintains a small active roster consisting of two separate six-person Navy SEAL assault teams and a four-person SEAL reconnaissance team, as well as direct support from Intelligence and Electronic Warfare specialists, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, a Special Tactics Team, and both rotary- and fixed-wing aviators.
Engaging in mission sets and campaigns including maritime search & seizure, hostage rescue, special reconnaissance, underwater dive and airborne HALO insertions, their operations regularly push the boundaries of what is possible inside the Arma 3 game engine. Regular months-long, narrative-driven campaigns provide focused experiences with supporting world-building efforts such as news articles, responsiveness to real-world events, and planning that considers the entire battlespace both militarily and otherwise.
Furthering these efforts are their contributions as a group to expert development and modding teams, including the names behind A3 Thermal Improvement, the A3TI REAP-IR, USAF Mod, and Project M, who have used the group as a test bed for their creations and curated their own suite of equipment specifically for Gold Squadron. Their members have also independently worked on projects such as ACE3, RHS, USP, and S.O.G. Prairie Fire.
Gold Squadron also prides itself on its own in-house mod development team. From their unique Noveske rifles, ECOTI thermal devices and GPNVG-18 night vision to the personalized, bespoke plate carriers and OpsCore helmets given to each and every member, the overwhelming talent on Gold Squadron’s roster allows each member to feel included and at home in their kit every time they gear up for a mission.
Recently integrating members from Arma Reforger units through a joint exchange program, Gold Squadron has helped to introduce new players to the Arma series to the matured systems and mechanics of Arma 3, and their own members to the next iteration of mechanics and gameplay in Arma Reforger, preparing their members for the upcoming release of Arma 4.
